Part 1

1. adder /ˈæd.ɚ/
(n) a type of poisonous snake

2. alligator /ˈæl.ə.ɡeɪ.t̬ɚ/
(n) a large reptile  with a hard skin that lives in and near rivers and lakes in the hot, wet parts of America and China

3. anaconda /ˌæn.əˈkɑːn.də/
(n) a large South American snake that curls around a live animal and crushes it to kill it for food 

4. boa /ˈboʊ.ə/
(n) a large, strong snake, found in South Central America, that kills animals and birds by wrapping itself around them and crushing them

5. python /ˈpaɪ.θɑːn/
(n) a very large snake that kills animals for food by wrapping itself around them 

6. cayman /ˈkeɪ.mən/
(n) an animal similar to an alligator
