Vocabulary

Let’s learn about the different vocabulary of the bathroom things.

Part 1

1. bathtub /ˈbæθ.tʌb/
(n.) 澡盆,浴缸
a long plastic, metal, or ceramic container that is filled with water so that you can sit or lie in it to wash your whole body

2. toilet  /ˈtɔɪ.lət/
(n.) 坐便器,馬桶
a bowl-shaped device with a seat that you sit on or stand near when emptying the body of urine or solid waste, or another device used for this purpose

Don’t forget to flush the toilet.
別忘了沖馬桶。

3. washbasin  /ˈwɒʃˌbeɪ.sən/
(n.)洗臉盆;洗手盆
a bowl that is attached to the wall in a bathroom or near a toilet and has pipes to supply and carry away water, in which you wash your hands, face, etc.

4. mirror  /ˈmɪr.ɚ/
(n.)鏡,鏡子
a piece of glass with a shiny, metal-covered back that reflects light, producing an image of whatever is in front of it

5. urinal /ˈjʊr.ən.əl/
(n.)(男用)小便池;男厠所
a device, usually attached to a wall, into which men or boys can urinate, or a building which contains one or more of these devices

6. faucet  /ˈfɑː.sət/
(n.)(水)龍頭,閥門
a device that controls the flow of liquid, especially water, from a pipe

Turn the faucet on/off.

7. toothbrush  /ˈtuːθ.brʌʃ/
(n.)牙刷
a small brush with a long handle that you use to clean your teeth

8. toothpaste /ˈtuːθ.peɪst/
(n.)牙膏
a substance that you put onto a toothbrush to clean your teeth

9. shampoo  /ʃæmˈpuː/
(n.)洗髮精;洗髮劑;洗滌劑
a liquid used for washing hair, or for washing particular objects or materials

Directions: wet hair, apply shampoo, and massage into a rich lather.

10. lotion  /ˈloʊ.ʃən/
(n.)護膚油,潤膚露
a liquid that you put on your skin in order to protect it, improve its condition, or make it smell pleasant

14. soap  /soʊp/

a substance used for washing the body or other things

To get rid of grease spots on clothing, rub a little dish soap on the spot before washing.

15. sponge /spʌndʒ/

a soft substance that is full of small holes and can absorb a lot of liquid, and is used for washing and cleaning

The doctor told me to sponge Erik down with cold water in order to lower his temperature.

16. bath mat  /ˈbæθ ˌmæt/

a piece of material that you stand on after getting out of a bath or shower to stop the floor from getting wet, or a piece of rubber that is put inside the bath or shower to prevent you sliding and falling

17. rubber duck  /ˌrʌb.ɚ ˈdʌk/

a small plastic or rubber toy duck, especially for playing with in the bath

18. hanger /ˈhæŋ.ɚ/
(n.)衣架
a curved piece of wire, wood, or plastic on which clothes are hung while they are being stored

19. hairdryer /ˈherˌdraɪ.ɚ/
(n.)(吹乾頭髮用的)吹風機
an electrical device, usually held in the hand, that blows out hot air and is used for drying a person’s hair

20. sink /sɪŋk/
(n.)(廚房的)水槽,洗碗槽;(浴室的)洗臉盆
a bowl that is attached to the wall in a kitchen or bathroom in which you wash dishes or your hands, etc.

a liquid used for keeping the mouth clean and smelling fresh

a type of soft, comfortable shoe for wearing inside the house

29. bathrobe /ˈbæθ.roʊb/

a loose piece of clothing like a coat, usually made of thick towelling material, worn informally inside the house, especially before or after a bath

30. exhaust fan /ɪɡˈzɑːst ˌfæn/
(n.)排氣風扇
a piece of equipment used to remove steam, smoke, or unpleasant smells from a room or building
