Let’s learn about the different vocabulary of music.

Part 1

1. song   /sɑːŋ/
(n.) 歌,歌曲
a usually short piece of music with words that are sung

2. tune /tuːn/  
(n.) 曲調,曲子;旋律
a series of musical notes, especially one that is pleasant and easy to remember

He was humming a tune as he dried the dishes.
他邊哼著調子,邊擦乾碗碟。

3. rhythm /ˈrɪð.əm/ 
(n.)(音樂、詩歌和舞蹈的)節奏,韻律,節律
a strong pattern of sounds, words, or musical notes that are used in music, poetry, and dancing

I’ve got no sense of rhythm, so I’m a terrible dancer.
我根本沒有節奏感,所以舞跳得很差勁。

4. harmony /ˈhɑːr.mə.ni/
(n.)(音樂中的)和聲
a pleasant musical sound made by different notes being played or sung at the same time

It is a simple melody with complex harmonies.
這是一首和聲複雜的簡單旋律。

5. tempo /ˈtem.poʊ/  
(n.)(音樂的)速度,節奏
the speed at which a piece of music is played

6. pitch  /pɪtʃ/
(n.)水準;程度
the level or degree of something

The piano and organ were tuned to the same pitch.

7. chord   /kɔːrd/
(n.)(音樂的)和絃,和音
three or more musical notes played at the same time

a C major chord     C大調

8. bass  /beɪs/
(adj.)低音的
playing, singing, or producing the lowest range of musical notes

a bass drum/guitar/trombone     低音鼓/吉他/長號

9. soundtrack /ˈsaʊnd.træk/
(n.)電影聲帶;(尤指)電影配樂;電影原聲帶
the sounds, especially the music, of a film, or a separate recording of this

The best thing about the movie is its soundtrack.
這部電影最成功的地方就是它的配樂。

10. record  /rɪˈkɔːrd/ 
(n.)(錄製的)歌曲,單曲,樂曲|
a song or music that has been recorded and is available for the public to buy

The Beatles’ first hit record was “Love Me Do”.
披頭四樂隊的第一首走紅歌曲是〈請愛我〉。

The vocals are shared by two members of the band.

(n.)作曲家
a person who writes music

15. acoustic /əˈkuː.stɪk/

used to refer to a musical instrument that is not made louder by electrical equipment

19. key /kiː/
(n.)調,主音
a set of musical notes based on one particular note

an introduction

This song has a brilliant piano intro.
