It means to drive somewhere together.

Oh, I see. Sure. I’m in. There are many carpool apps in China that connect you with   people.

Yeah, we have those in the States too. Do you have carpool lanes in China?

You mean lanes just for carpooling? I don’t think so.

We have those in the States. You can only use them if you have 2 other people in the car. It’s a great way to avoid traffic.

What if you are not carpooling with strangers but with your family?

 That works too. It’s just a way to encourage people to drive less and control the number of cars on roads.

Oh, that makes sense.
