Claudine
Sam
There was so much news about the New Hampshire primary during this election year, and now we are here.
Well, what we’re going to do here is quite different from the primary. We’re going hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
We’re not hiking the entire New Hampshire section of the trail, are we?
Of course not. We’re just hiking for a few hours. Then, tomorrow we’ll drive up Mount Washington.
Let’s make sure we have snacks and water for the hike.
Should we bring a compass and a map? What if there’s no service on the trail?
Good idea. We don’t want to get stranded in the middle of the woods!
Let’s practice
Answer the following questions.
- What are the things they need to bring for the hike?
- What is the name of the place that they are going to hike?
Dialogue 2
Read the dialogue aloud with your teacher.
Sameer
Raghav
Hi Raghav. How are you?
Hello Sameer. Fine, thanks! How do you do?
Very well, thank you. I had not seen you for a long time. Where did you go?
I went to a camp for five days. So, I was absent.
You skipped classes for a camp. The classes are more important than the camp.
You are right. I can’t miss the camp.
What did you do in the camp?
I met people from different places. We went hiking. I collected dry leaves and twigs for the fire.
For all these, you missed the classes.
Will I ever get the experience again?
I don’t think so.
I had experienced how our soldiers live in the borders. It’s more difficult than we think.
I’m happy that you had learnt a wonderful thing by going to the camp. It’s late. I have to go.
Oh, you’re right. Bye. See you soon.
Bye.
Let’s Practice
Answer the following questions.
- Who experienced how to live like a soldier?
- What did Raghav do in the camp?
- How many days did Raghav stay in the camp?
